“Churni is enjoying the Camino as much as we are, and It’s not complicated to bring your dog with you, but you must take a couple of things into account.

First-Pad hardener: You have to apply, daily, a pad hardener to your dog’s paws, starting at least three weeks before the heavy walking begins.

Second-Housing: You need to do your booking in advance and make sure that they are OK with dogs. It’s a bit more expensive because you can’t share the place with other people.

Third- Food. There are many places, like supermarkets or little shops where you can buy dog food, so that shouldn’t be a problem. If you run out of it, you can always ask for a piece of chicken or a steak at a restaurant.

Fourth-Stick: This is very important. You will find many dogs in the Camino, and they are used to pilgrims, but they are NOT used to other dogs. So if your friend gets into trouble, usually rising or waving a stick will calm things down.

Fifth-Leash: You have to bring a comfortable leash because you’ll be holding it for hours.We’ve brought this one and it’s being really liberating. It can be hooked to your belt buckle so your hands are free.”

“Churni está disfrutando el Camino tanto como nosotros, y realmente no es complicado traerte a tu perro, pero hay unas cuantas cosas que tienes que tener en cuenta.

Primero-El endurecedor de almohadillas: Tienes que aplicarle un endurecedor en las almohadillas todos los dias, empezando por lo menos tres semanas antes de la caminata.

Segundo-Alojamiento. Necesitas reservar las habitaciones con antelación y tienes que asegurarte de que permiten perros. Te va a salir un poco más caro, porque no puedes compartir con otra gente.

Tercero-Comida. Hay bastantes sitios, como supermercados y tiendas donde comprar comida para perros. Si se te acaba, siempre puedes pedir un filete o un trozo de pollo en cualquier bar.

Cuarto-Palo: Esto es importante. Te vas a encontrar muchos perros en el Camino, perros que están acostumbrados a los peregrinos, pero que no están acostumbrados a otros perros. Si tu amigo se mete en problemas, normamente será suficiente con levantar el palo, o menearlo en el aire para que las cosas se calmen.

Quinto-Correa: Tienes que traer una correa cómoda, porque vas a estar sujetándola durante horas. Nosotros hemos traido ésta y es muy liberadora. Se engancha en la hebilla y te deja las manos libres”
