Antonio: “Alejandro and Jose are my sons. We made the commitment to walk, once a year, a part of the Camino together.”

Jose: “Last year we met a pilgrim, a man from England, at the hostel we were staying in, and then we walked together the next day. He was a very curious guy, really interested in the Camino; he asked us about the churches we encountered, the villages we saw, and the history of the Camino in general. We lost track of him the last day, just before arriving in Santiago. When we did, we went straight to the cathedral. There were several priests officiating the Pilgrim’s Mass and, one of them, was our friend. He surely knew about the pilgrimage a lot more than we did, but he asked us questions anyway and listened to our answers with interest. He was a humble man.
This is a lesson to learn from the Camino: you don’t know who you are walking with, who you are talking to and it really doesn’t matter. You could be a doctor, a waiter, or a priest in your everyday life, but here, you are only a Pilgrim.”

Antonio: “Alejandro y Jose son mis hijos. Tenemos el compromiso de caminar juntos, una vez al año, y hacer una parte del Camino.”

Jose: “El año pasado conocimos a un peregrino Inglés, en el albergue en el que nos quedábamos. Era un tipo muy curioso, muy interesado en el Camino: nos preguntaba sobre las iglesias que encontrábamos, lo pueblos que veíamos, y la historia del Camino en general. Lo perdimos de vista el último día justo antes de llegar a Santiago. Cuando llegamos, fuimos directos a la catedral. Había varios párrocos oficiando misa y, uno de ellos, era nuestro amigo. Estoy seguro que sabía muchas más cosas sobre el peregrinaje que nosotros, y aún así, nos preguntaba y escuchaba aténtamente nuestras respuestas. Era un hombre humilde.
Esta es una lección que aprender del Camino; no tienes ni idea de con quién caminas o con quien estás charlando y realmente no importa. Puedes ser un médico, un camarero o un cura en tu vida diaria, pero aquí, eres sólo un peregrino.”
