“I’ve wanted to walk the Camino since I was a little Girl Scout and first heard about it. My idea was to do the French Way, but I’m a mom now, so taking a month off wasn’t an option. I googled alternatives and found the English way—only five days from beginning to end and less crowded than the French one. Good. It didn’t begin well, though, I didn’t like the first stage, between Ferrol and Pontedeume, because it’s mostly urban, but after that, it’s been really beautiful…and not that hard, actually! You have to be in a certain mood, though, not only for walking this much, but, especially, for meeting new people and be open to whatever happens. Yesterday, for instance, when we arrived in Pontedeume, the hostel was full, so I decided to cut expenses by sharing a hotel room with a very nice German girl I had met just some hours before. It was the first time I did something like that.”

“Llevo queriendo venir aquí desde que era una pequeña Girl Scout y oí hablar del Camino de Santiago por primera vez. Mi idea era hacer el Camino Francés, pero soy mamá, así que cogerme un mes entero era imposible. Busqué alternativas en Google y encontré El Camino Inglés: solo cinco días y menos concurrido. Genial. Aún así la cosa no empezó bien; no me gustó nada la primera etapa, de Ferrol a Pontedeume, porque es, sobre todo, urbana. Después de eso ha sido precioso… ¡y menos difícil de lo que pensaba! Tienes que estar de un humor especial, eso sí, no sólo para caminar, sino, sobre todo, para conocer a gente nueva y estar abierto a cosas nuevas. Ayer, sin ir más lejos, cuando llegamos a Pontedeume el albergue estaba lleno, así que decidí recortar gastos compartiendo una habitación de hotel con una chica Alemana que había conocido unas horas antes. Fue la primera vez que hice algo así.”
