“Me being here is a miracle I could have never imagined. My friends call me and say ‘Luana, how the hell did you manage to arrive in Europe if you are always broken? Are you dealing drugs?’ And I say no, of course not. I don’t do anything. I only ask God, and God grants me.
My dad was killed when I was only a baby, and my mother and I had to move from a small village to a big town, looking for a new life. I began working when I was barely twelve because we had nothing, only debts.
Now I’ve just finished my studies of Medicine in Argentina -also a miracle- working summers in Texas, getting paid in a strong currency and saving for the year. And I’m going to do my apprenticeship training in Finland, the most different country from South America I can think of.
The Camino is being a blessing in many ways., another gift. And even though I have no idea what more hardships I’ll have to endure in the future, I only hope that God helps me, if He wants, to keep this good attitude towards life.”

“Que yo esté aquí es un milagro que ni te imaginás. Mis amigas me llaman y me dicen, ‘¿Luana, cómo has hecho para llegar a Europa si nunca tenés dónde caerte muerta? ¿Estás vendiendo drogas o qué?’ Y yo les digo que no, que yo no hago nada; yo solo le pido a Dios y Él… bueno… Él me concede.
Nací en un pueblo muy chiquito en Brasil. A mi padre lo mataron cuando yo tenía dos años y mi mamá y yo nos tuvimos que marchar a una ciudad grande, a empezar una nueva vida. Comencé a laburar con doce años y aún así pasamos hambre, porque no teníamos nada, solo deudas.
Ahora estamos mejor. He terminado Medicina en Argentina -también un milagro- trabajando los veranos en Texas y cobrando en dolares, ahorrando. Me faltan las prácticas y las voy a hacer en Finlandia, el país menos parecido a Sudamérica que se me ocurre.
El Camino está siendo una bendición más para mi, otro regalo. Y aunque no sé qué nuevos problemas me esperan en el futuro, solo espero que Dios me ayude, si Él quiere, a mantener esta actitud ante la vida.”
