“My mother died last year and I’m still trying to come to terms with it. I’ll also be retiring from work soon, and I’m thinking a lot about what’ll I do with my life. Last month I walked the French Way, from St Jean, and now I’m doing the English one. I’ve been brought up Protestant, and even though I think I’m a good person, I also feel that I’m not a good Christian, and this, sometimes, worries me. I’ve been speaking a lot with other pilgrims, about this and about other things. It’s nice to be able to talk frankly with people that don’t know you —it’s easier— and I can’t say that I’ve solved all my problems, but I think it has helped.I’ve also heard that the Camino starts the moment you arrive home, and I arrive in Santiago in 3 days. So many things have happened these last weeks —so many— that I’m going to need a long time to think them over.”

“Mi madre murió el año pasado y aún estoy haciéndome a la idea. Además me voy a retirar pronto, así que estoy pensando mucho sobre qué voy a hacer en el futuro. El mes pasado hice el Camino Francés, desde St Jean, y ahora estoy haciendo el Inglés. Me he criado como Protestante y aunque creo que soy una buena persona, tambien creo que no soy un buen Cristiano. He estado hablando de esto y de más cosas con otros peregrinos. Es bueno poder hablar con franqueza con gente que no te conoce – es fácil- y aunque no creo que haya resuelto todos mis problemas, sí que creo me ha ayudado. He oído que el Camino empieza cuando llegas a casa y yo llego a Santiago en tres días. Me han pasado tantas cosas estas semanas -tantas- que creo que voy a necesitar mucho tiempo para madurarlas.”
