María lives in Sampaio, near Betanzos, in the last kilometres of the third stage of the English Way:
¨Very few people live here and the ones who do…well, they are, usually, inside their homes, so i’m always happy whenever some pilgrims decide to stop by, and have a chat with me. Just the other day, two Italians rang the bell and asked me if I could give them some eggs… to eat raw! For the ‘energy,’ I guess, I don’t know. Such nice people, the pilgrims.¨

¨Aquí no vive casi nadie, y los que hay casi no salen de casa, así que me alegra mucho que los peregrinos se paren a charlar un rato, si no tienen prisa. ¡Vienen de todos los países! El otro día llamaron una pareja de italianos y me pidieron huevos… ¡para comerselos crudos! Supongo que les darían energía, no lo sé. Son gente encantadora, los peregrinos.¨
